I bought the giant size for my new retired racing greyhound. Perfect! It's just the right height (these dogs may not weigh much but they are tall) and I often find my older greyhound napping in it.
I bought my first Vari-Kennel at a yard sale in the early "80's for my cat. It's stil being used today even though it has a few scratches from a bad car wreck. Without this sturdy crate, I doubt my cat would have survived a triple rollover.
If you want safety first, buy this brand of crate.

We've used ours for over twenty years, still in good condition in spite of very active large dogs. Solidly built,a must have.

This crate is awesome for dogs who have had a history of breaking out of crates. It's roomy so even big dogs are not uncomfortable. The door latches in 6 places, making it secure for even escape artists. If you have had problems containing your seperation anxiety dog when you are away, give this crate a try

Literally, you could put a tiny pony in this crate. Be careful of what we did today--assemble--then not fit through door to next room. It's a snap to put together, even if you do it backwards. Can't tell yet @ pet approval, our Psychiatric Service Dog doesn't arrive for 3 weeks...head start...
